Westcoast International Secondary School expands

Westcoast International Secondary School will add four blocks to its existing premises to accommodate more students in 2019. The secondary school offered classes until Form 5 until now. As from 2019, students will be able to pursue their studies until their Form 6 classes.


Currently spanning over ​​1,000m2, the whole extension project targets to reach 4,300 m2 by 2021. Its first phase, to be delivered in 2019 will cover four blocks hosting four classrooms, three chemistry, physics and biology laboratories, a library equipped with a media room, and a drawing room.


 "I am thrilled by these new infrastructures that will allow us as from 2019 to welcome 75 additional students annually. From 15 students only in 2015, we have reached a population of 175 students in 2017, which is a very nice progression for the school. We expect to accommodate 525 students by 2023." said Virginie Staub, Director of WestCoast International Secondary School.


The secondary school of Uniciti Education Hub promotes sport, which is why over and above their own football, volleyball and basketball grounds, students have privileged access to SPARC, Uniciti's brand new sports center, which includes the Olympic swimming pool.

About Westcoast International Secondary School


Founded in 2014 and established within Uniciti in 2017, Westcoast International Secondary School is the only school on the west coast of Mauritius offering English language instruction. From grade one to grade three, students benefit from an educational approach that develops critical thinking in an international perspective and prepares them for the International Middle Year Curriculum. In the fourth and fifth year, they are mainly preparing for the IGCSE, examinations organized by the University of Cambridge.


Westcoast International Secondary School takes a holistic approach to student development based on the latest research in teaching. This philosophy involves developing a learning model that promotes the development of specific skills and tools to face the challenges of the 21st century. The school is thus designed to provide an open, spacious and relaxing space where children can be stimulated intellectually, socially and physically in accordance with principles and discipline.


Westcoast International Secondary School pays special attention to the sport, through the implementation of several sports activities to preselect the best athletes who will represent the school regionally and nationally.
